Tell me a bit about your professional background and career thus far.

I have worked across several areas of finance for many years. I also worked selling and financing vehicles for 17 years. I have been a self-employed Mortgage Broker since March 2006.

How long have you been working in finance?

I have been working in finance since 1983.

What are your strengths?

I can quickly build rapport, I’m a good listener and I focus on doing the best I can for my potential clients, even if that does not result in a home loan application.

What do you love most about your job?

What I like best about my job is that it is a feel-good job; most of the time you are either saving people money or making it possible for them to realise their dreams of home ownership.

I look to build long term relationships based on trust. I treat people of all backgrounds with equality, respect, patience and never prejudge.

Which area of finance do you specialise in?

I specialise in home lending but I also look at commercial loans and asset finance from time to time.

Outside of work, how do you like to spend your time? What are a few of your hobbies / interests / passions?

I regularly play table tennis for the Sidmouth Table Tennis Club. Generally, we play at a social level but on occasions we arrange to play competitive games against the Launceston or Port Sorrel clubs.

I also enjoy playing chess. In the past I’ve been a member of the Launceston Chess Club and have coached chess at the Mind Moves Chess Club. This is a club specifically for school age children on the autism spectrum.

I have a fledgling classic car collection, which currently consists of a 1954 MG TF 1500 and a 1967 Daimler 2.5 V8. I am hoping to increase this collection.

I am a keen watcher of sports both live and on television. I’m a member of the Adelaide Crows Football Club and travel to see them play when I can. I held a season ticket for Wolverhampton Wanderers FC and saw in excess of 150 games over the years I lived in England.

I have attended Ashes tests at Edgbaston and Hobart and watched soccer cup finals at Wembley. I have been a spectator at several Formula One races, LA Dodgers baseball games and sat courtside at a memorable NBL match between Lakers v Celtics featuring Magic Johnson, Kareem Al Jabbar and Larry Bird.

What are some key landmarks near to your business / in the local area?

Closest landmark would be the Batman Bridge, the longest single span suspension bridge in the southern hemisphere which is 5-minute drive from my home and place of work.
